11 dead, multiple injured as buildings collapse in Karachi's Golimar area

KARACHI: Three residential buildings in the city’s Golimar area collapsed on Thursday, killing 11 and wounding more than a dozen people, officials said.

MLO  Abbasi Shaheed Hospital informed that bodies of seven women, three children and one man were brought after the incident. At least 18 people were wounded in the incident, said  Police surgeon Dr Qarrar Abbasi.

"Among those who have been identified in the building collapse are Haider, Maryam, Yahya, Hira and Ghulam Mustafa," she said. One woman had also died in the building collapse but authorities had not been able to identify her yet.

Rescue sources informed that two children were also  rescued. Those wounded were shifted to a nearby medical facility.

Army and Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s team also reached the site of incident to aid the rescue operations.

According to police, three buildings collapsed in the area, with one of them being completely destroyed, while major part of the other two buildings was razed to the ground.

Police said that the fourth building near the three collapsed buildings was also declared unsafe.

کراچی: جمعرات کے روز شہر کے گولیمار علاقے میں تین رہائشی عمارتیں گر گئیں ، 11 افراد ہلاک اور ایک درجن سے زائد افراد زخمی ہوگئے۔

ایم ایل او عباسی شہید اسپتال نے بتایا کہ واقعے کے بعد سات خواتین ، تین بچوں اور ایک شخص کی لاشیں لائی گئیں۔ پولیس سرجن ڈاکٹر قرار عباسی نے بتایا کہ اس واقعے میں کم از کم 18 افراد زخمی ہوئے۔

انہوں نے کہا ، "عمارت کے خاتمے میں جن کی شناخت ہوئی ہے ان میں حیدر ، مریم ، یحییٰ ، ہیرا اور غلام مصطفی شامل ہیں۔" عمارت گرنے سے ایک خاتون کی موت بھی ہوگئی تھی لیکن حکام ابھی تک اس کی شناخت نہیں کر سکے تھے۔

ریسکیو ذرائع نے بتایا کہ دو بچوں کو بھی بچایا گیا ہے۔ زخمیوں کو قریبی طبی سہولیات میں منتقل کردیا گیا۔

آرمی اور کراچی میٹرو پولیٹن کارپوریشن کی ٹیم بھی امدادی کاموں میں مدد کے لئے جائے وقوعہ پر پہنچ گئی۔

پولیس کے مطابق ، علاقے میں تین عمارتیں گر گئیں ، جن میں سے ایک مکمل طور پر تباہ ہوگئی ، جبکہ دیگر دو عمارتوں کا بڑا حصہ زمین بوس ہو گیا۔

پولیس کا کہنا ہے کہ تین منہدم عمارتوں کے قریب چوتھی عمارت بھی غیر محفوظ قرار دی گئی ہے
