The "Chokundi Cemetery", named after the 600-year-old city of Khumshan, has a history buried in itself. KARACHI: Three residential buildings in the city’s Golimar area collapsed on Thursday, killing 11 and wounding more than a dozen people, officials said. MLO  Abbasi Shaheed Hospital informed that bodies of seven women, three children and one man were brought after the incident. At least 18 people were wounded in the incident, said  Police surgeon Dr Qarrar Abbasi. "Among those who have been identified in the building collapse are Haider, Maryam, Yahya, Hira and Ghulam Mustafa," she said. One woman had also died in the building collapse but authorities had not been able to identify her yet. Rescue sources informed that two children were also  rescued. Those wounded were shifted to a nearby medical facility. Army and Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s team also reached the site of incident to aid the rescue operations. Amid the resumption of most businesses across the country after  government eased lockdown restrictions last month, President Marriage Halls Association Rana Raees Ahmed has appealed to authorities to allow marriage halls to reopen under the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), reported   Geo News  on Sunday. Ahmed said that due to the lockdown, the business of marriage hall owners had come to a standstill leading to severe anxiety among them. "The Marriage Hall Association has prepared a model banquet under SOPs under which chairs will be placed at a distance from the halls, disinfection gate will be installed at the main gate and guests will be served food on the table," he said.
